Pick a photo taken straight on and well lit, drag the square frame until the face sits inside the oval guide and tap "Create 2x2 photo". The tool crops and resizes to 600×600 pixels (2×2 in at 300 DPI), the size US passport and visa applications ask for.
The State Department asks for a 2×2 inch (51×51 mm) color photo taken in the last 6 months, straight on, with a plain white or off-white background, a neutral expression, both eyes open and no glasses. Your head must measure between 1 and 1⅜ inches from the bottom of the chin to the top of the head — the oval guide in the editor is drawn for that range.
After creating the photo, tap "Download 4x6 sheet to print (PDF)": you get a 4×6 inch sheet with 6 photos of 2x2 and cut lines. Print it on photo paper at any pharmacy, drugstore or print shop and cut — far cheaper than a photo booth.
The 2×2 inch size is the same one used for US passports, most visa applications and green card forms. Always check the specific requirements of the form you are filing, since some ask for extra details.
This tool frames and resizes; it does not change the background. If your photo has a colored or busy background, run it through the "Remove image background" tool first (choosing a white background there) and come back here for the 2x2 crop.
