In "Split PDF" you pick individual pages in any order and each one becomes a separate file, or you select several to join into one PDF. In "Extract pages" you give a continuous range (e.g. pages 3 to 7) and they all come out together in a single PDF — faster when you want one stretch from the middle of a document.
The tool copies pages 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7 from the original PDF into a new file, in the same order. The original PDF is untouched — you keep the full file and also get the extracted stretch.
No. Protected PDFs have to be unlocked first (open with the password and save an unprotected copy). That is a security restriction of the format itself.
Yes, 100%. The pages are copied exactly as they are in the original — text, images and vectors are preserved with no quality loss.
